Ethan designs and guides private journeys throughout East Africa and has been doing so for nearly a decade. He visited Virunga after meeting Sarah and Cai and was convinced it is one of the most magical places in Africa. His experience as a private guide in Eastern Africa ensures that not only your trip to Virunga will be inspiring but that your entire multi-country experience including Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and DR Congo, will be just as exciting!
Sarah Tjeenk Willink
Sarah is one of the founders of Inspired Journeys. She was the first manager of Mikeno Lodge in Virunga National Park. She subsequently worked as the operational manager for Sidai Designs in Tanzania, an organization empowering Maasai women to gain stable income from jewelry manufacturing. Before taking up the position of commercial manager of Inspired Journeys.
Barbara was born in Namibia and whilst growing up, it became evident that her passions in life were nature, cooking & travel. After school she completed her studies in nature conservation as well as Cordon Bleu cooking. Her path led her to Tanzania and that is where she finally got to roll all her passions into one. With a background in Community Development, Conservation and Cordon Blue Cooking, Barbara can certainly create a truly inspirational Safari!
Leonie vd Vijver
Agent manager & Product development
After working for several leading safari companies in East Africa and being involved in various start ups, Leonie decided it was time to venture and set up her own. Having spent most of her life in Tanzania, she enjoys the outdoors and loves to travel. She believes that no trip can ever be the same and every itinerary needs to match the traveler… and the traveler's shoes! Designing a trip becomes a piece of art.
Frederike is the newest member of the IJ team and has experienced different sides of the safari business. Originally from Holland, where she worked as a safari consultant, she has been traveling trough East and Southern Africa. She worked in South Luangwa NP in Zambia where she also volunteered for a Carnivore Conservation Programme. Now living in Tanzania with her bush pilot boyfriend, she loves exploring new places in their Land Rover together.
